OverviewΒ
As an Avaloq Test Manager in Synpulse UK’s Banking practice, you will lead the testing workstream on complex Avaloq transformation, implementation, upgrade and change programmes for private banking and wealth management clients. This is primarily a client-facing delivery role, responsible for shaping practical test strategies, establishing effective governance and driving high-quality execution across system, integration, regression and user acceptance testing. Working closely with business, technology, Avaloq and delivery stakeholders, you will ensure that testing provides transparent evidence of solution quality and supports controlled releases and go-lives. You will also contribute to the growth of Synpulse’s UK Avaloq testing capability by sharing reusable methods, assets and lessons learned and by coaching colleagues.
Β
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end test workstream for Avaloq programmes, taking ownership of scope, strategy, planning, estimates, governance, quality gates and delivery outcomes.
  • Define risk-based test approaches covering relevant stages such as unit test coordination, system and integration testing, end-to-end testing, regression testing, user acceptance testing and production verification.
  • Translate business requirements, solution designs, banking processes and technical changes into clear test conditions, scenarios, acceptance criteria and traceable coverage.
  • Establish and operate test governance, including entry and exit criteria, defect workflows, prioritisation, test evidence standards, reporting, escalation paths and stakeholder forums.
  • Plan and coordinate test environments, data, resources, dependencies and execution schedules across business, Avaloq, integration and digital channels.
  • Drive test execution and defect management, facilitating triage, root-cause analysis and resolution across client teams, Synpulse specialists, Avaloq and third-party vendors.
  • Provide clear, evidence-based reporting on readiness, coverage, progress, defects, risks and quality trends to project leadership and senior client stakeholders.
  • Assess and improve test automation and test-data approaches using appropriate tooling such as Jira/Xray, Tosca, TestMaster, AST or the Avaloq Testing Suite (ATS), with consideration for maintainability, reuse and integration into delivery pipelines.
  • Lead client workshops and advise on pragmatic improvements to testing operating models, shift-left practices, coverage, controls and delivery efficiency.
  • Build trusted client relationships, manage expectations and communicate complex quality topics clearly to business and technical audiences.
  • Lead and support multidisciplinary test teams, setting priorities, reviewing deliverables and coaching colleagues to achieve consistent, high-quality outcomes.
  • Strengthen Synpulse’s internal Avaloq testing capability through knowledge sharing, reusable templates and assets, training, proposition development and contributions to proposals and client pursuits.

  • Sound understanding of Avaloq-enabled banking processes, system landscapes and the dependencies between core banking, interfaces and digital channels.
  • Hands-on proficiency with test and defect management tooling; practical experience with one or more of Jira/Xray, Tosca, TestMaster, AST or ATS is expected.
  • Ability to analyse requirements and solution designs, challenge assumptions and identify business, technical and operational risks.
  • Confident facilitation, stakeholder management and communication, including the ability to present quality and readiness decisions to senior audiences.
  • Strong planning, prioritisation and problem-solving skills, with a focus on transparent delivery and measurable outcomes.
  • Collaborative leadership style and the ability to coordinate teams across business, technology, vendors and locations.
  • Consulting mindset, ownership and commercial awareness, with the flexibility to adapt to different client environments and delivery methods.

  • Experience leading or coordinating client-facing teams and managing senior stakeholders in a banking or financial-services environment.
  • Experience with private banking or wealth management processes is highly desirable.
