As part of the Global Functions Technology (GFT) within RBC's Technology and Operations division, you'll be at the heart of a team that extends its services across the organization, offering IT solutions that drive transformation and efficiency. Our collaborative efforts span various domains including Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking, and Wealth Management. Joining our Finance IT Data Management team, you'll play a crucial role in overseeing Test Implementation and Test Automation on our cutting-edge Big Data Platform. This role involves working with the latest technologies and programming languages such as Cloudera, Spark, Scala, Unix, SQL, Python, and leveraging DevOps Containerization applications.

Your primary responsibility will be to lead the team in enhancing QE Automation for our diverse client groups, alongside managing test execution. This position offers a unique chance to showcase and further develop your technical and architectural expertise, as well as your leadership capabilities, all while delivering IT solutions in a fast-paced and ever-changing business landscape.

What will you do?Β 

  • Lead and execute the overall quality engineering strategy, focusing on functional testing and automation across the Big Data ecosystem.

  • Drive strategic QE initiatives and implement automation standards and processes.

  • Build and manage a high-performing, diverse QE team, ensuring training and tools are in place to meet objectives.

  • Maximize automation coverage for all functional testing deliverables.

  • Develop and align processes and tools with the broader QE strategy and framework.

  • Provide clear, detailed quality status updates to project teams and stakeholders.

  • Own the success of assigned programs, including test implementation, environment management, and test data management.

  • Collaborate with Application Development Directors to embed quality engineering practices within DevOps pipelines.

What do you need to succeed?Β 

Must-have:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience and 3+ years in people management.

  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools (Robot Framework).

  • Proficiency in scripting (Unix, Python, SQL, Spark).

  • Experience with Big Data technologies and data-related testing (ingestion, lineage, quality, transformation).

  • Familiarity with SDLC, QE, and DevOps tools (JIRA, GitHub, Jenkins, UrbanCodeDeploy, qTest).

  • Strong communication, automation vision, and leadership skills.Β 

Nice-to-have:

  • Finance and risk domain knowledge.

  • Experience in code reviews and test automation script reviews.

  • Cloud certifications and exposure to solutions like AWS, ElasticSearch, Kafka, SNS.

  • ISTQB certification.
