C2 Software Test Engineer

Our test team is searching for new members that can help us conduct command and control testing on intelligence, missile warning and Nuclear Command and Control Strategic systems.  If you enjoy working in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment, learning new mission areas, this is the place for you. The team is searching for a software tester to support the 45th Test Squadron, the United States Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.  The Test Team conducts Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) on Air Force and Space Force systems to ensure they perform as required and make recommendations on corrective actions.  

The successful candidate will have opportunities to lead test programs and exercise project management while working directly with experienced team members with many years of DT&E experience.  If you have a software test engineering background and want to learn more about Air Force, Space Force and Strategic Command and Control systems, this is the job for you.

This position provides support to the 45 Test Squadron – Space and Intel Flight and is located at Eglin AFB in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Test events can range in length from days to weeks and will require travel. Current test schedule is typically 1-2 weeks per month but can vary.

This support includes the following: 

• Provides technical leadership and frequently serves as the technical authority for developmental testing of the Strategic Mission Planning and Execution System (SMPES) program.  SMPES is a comprehensive software system designed to equip the U.S. Air Force and U.S. strategic nuclear forces with essential nuclear planning and analysis tools.
• Conducts data analysis and applies knowledge of engineering technology under the direction of engineering staff. These tasks include test and evaluation, test support, operations analyses, technical studies, and various analyses and support activities including program/system security.
• Assists in the development of system requirements, performance measures, test phase entry/exit criteria, and analysis of test design constraints functional capabilities, and metrics.
• Supports Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E), Operational Test (OT), Force Development Evaluation (FDE), Risk Reduction Testing (RRT) and certification for test readiness; identifies deficiencies, verifies compliance with specifications and standards, and assesses stability of various system configurations.
• Supports senior engineers when interacting with System Program Offices, other services, and development contractors.
• Prepares, executes, reviews, and analyzes test plans, procedures, metrics, and reports throughout the software development life cycle. Develops and writes methods of tests, Concepts of Operation (CONOPS), test cases, test objectives/procedures, letter reports, analysis and reviews of requirements, and other test process documents as required in the conduct of testing.
• Coordinates schedules, pre-and post-test activities, logistics of test planning, and test reports.
• Travels up to 40% of time to military bases, contractors' facilities, test sites, and other locations (OCONUS and CONUS).
