DescriptionThe Sr. Engineering Technician will support the design engineering team with project development activities. This includes soldering, testing, programming devices, assembly of devices, etcβ¦ Β Our products include, but not limited to thermostats, Indoor air quality systems & line volt products.Β
JOB DUTIES:
- Participates in product development team meetings.
- SetsΒ up and maintainsΒ test benches and equipment, ensuring proper integration and functionality for accurate testing outcomes.
- Builds test fixtures, wires devices, follows schematics and is able to solder miniature SMD components under a microscope.
- Performs and coordinates product validation according to design engineer's direction and/or test procedures, product specifications, and regulatory standards.
- PreparesΒ test reports, analyzesΒ data and makes recommendations to design engineers.
- Maintains a repository for detailed documentation of test results.
- CollaboratesΒ and supports engineering staff.
- Can take actions necessary to 'stop' work when an unsafe condition or action is identified.Β
- ConductsΒ activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established Resideo Safety requirements to ensure the protection of associates, the public, and the environment.Β
- Specifies, initiates, and coordinates acquisition of new development equipment as needed.
- May perform other duties as required.
MUST HAVE:
- 3+Β years of experience as a test technician, executing and supporting electrical testing.
- Experience with product design testing.
- Familiar withΒ the use of test equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, hand tools, calipers, micrometer, Load Cells/ Force Gages, soldering equipment, etc.
- Familiar with electrical componentsΒ and competent in reading schematics
- Familiarity conducting electrical tests such as Transients,Β ESD, lightning, oscillatory and EMC.
- Ability to independently manage workloads from design engineers and comfortable in escalating conflicting priorities.
- Ability to communicate test results using Office Tools, Outlook, camera pictures, etc.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, with atitude for independent action and decision making.
- Ability to take direction and be a self-starter.
- Good communication skills in English both written and verbally.
WE VALUE:
- Electrical, Electronics, or Electromechanical technical degree.
- Ability to set up various life tests following wiring diagrams using appropriate wire gauge, wire spicing equipment, wire nut sizes and the proper use of power tools.
- Proficient computer skills; Office 365, and PDM systems.
- Competent with tools in mechanical lab for mechanical prototyping, tool modifications and disassembly of various components for inspection.
- Experience with:
- Line volt product testing for 110v is desired.
- Use of thermal chambers for extreme temperature and humidity testing.
- RF products testing for design validation is a plus
- Experience replacing 0201 components and in replacing BGA components with SMD rework system.
- Lathe, CNC Center, Band Saw, Grinding Wheels, Power Sander, FDM Printers, Object Printers, 3D printing post processing is a plus.
