Job Details:
Th General Manager Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA)ย isย responsible forย the daily management of all activities of the FSQA department, including the implementation and execution of food safety programs, specification adherence, and product quality for products within their assigned facility. This includes monitoring, verification, and record-keeping associated with adherence to government regulations and internal food safety systems. Additionally, the FSQA General Manager will oversee departmental budgets, turnover, safety, and all specialย projects asย assigned.ย
Responsibilitiesย
Ensuring Compliance: Ensure all Tyson FSQA policies and procedures are followed.ย
Leadership: Lead FSQA Supervisors and FSQA Technicians, includingย selectionย and training.ย
Verification: Verify production practices from raw material/live animal receiving through finished product quality and Food Safety Systems.ย
Sanitation Support: Support sanitation through monitoring of preoperational and operational sanitation.ย
Program Development: Develop, implement, andย maintainย the HACCP/HARPC & SSOP programs.ย
Quality Assurance: Ensure finished product conforms to customer product specifications and is properly labeled.ย
Reporting: Report product issues and audit results to plant and corporateย FSQAย plant management, corporate sales, R&D, and operations.ย
Customer Interaction: Interact with customers and their agents for product showings, plant tours, and audits.ย
Complaint Management: Conduct investigations and respond to quality-related customer complaints or complaint trends.ย
Microbiological Monitoring:ย Monitorย microbiological results, including bacterial swabs and shelf-life studies.ย
New Product Commercialization:ย Participateย in new product commercialization.ย
This positionย is responsible forย food safety, food quality, and legality.ย
Requirementsย
Educationย
High School diploma orย GED. Bachelorโs degree in a related field preferred.ย
Experienceย
At least 5 years in a food manufacturing environmentย , with a broad knowledge in one or more of the following areas: HACCP, USDA, GMP, and SSOPs.ย
Prior supervisory experience preferred.ย
Computer Skillsย
Standard computer skillsย .ย
Proficient computer skills capable of generating customer letters and spreadsheets.ย
Must be capable of mastering EIM, SAP, and warehouse inventory systems to provide support and training to plant FSQA and other Team Members.ย
Communication Skillsย
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,ย demonstratingย the proven ability to correspond with all levelsโfromย frontย lineย team members to corporate management.ย
Special Skillsย
Strong problem identification and problem-solving skills.ย
Ability to work independently while interacting with variousย facetsย within the organization.ย
Serve as the plant liaison to USDA/FDA.ย
Supervisoryย
Manage crewing labor and attendance of the FSQA department.ย
