Junior QA Engineer

Role & Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain and execute clear, reusable manual test cases and checklists for web and API features across product releases.
  • Design and implement automation test scripts to validate critical user journeys and regression suites using standard automation frameworks.
  • Perform API testing and validate backend behaviour using tools like Postman; verify responses, status codes, and data integrity against requirements.
  • Log, prioritise and track defects in JIRA; collaborate with developers and product owners to reproduce issues and validate fixes.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI pipelines and support nightly/PR test runs to catch regressions early.
  • Contribute to test documentation, release checklists, and quality metrics to continuously improve test coverage and cycle time.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have
  • Proven experience with Selenium WebDriver for web UI automation.
  • Hands-on API testing experience using Postman or equivalent tools.
  • Knowledge of REST API concepts, JSON, and HTTP status codes.
  • Familiarity with SQL for backend data validation.
  • Experience using JIRA for defect tracking and basic test management.
  • Version control experience with Git and working in Agile/Scrum teams.
Preferred
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) for automated test execution.
  • Familiarity with modern automation frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, TestNG, PyTest).
  • ISTQB Foundation certification or formal QA training is a plus.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 1–3 years of combined manual and automation testing experience; internship or project-based experience encouraged for early-career applicants.
  • Comfortable working on-site in India and participating in cross-functional agile ceremonies.
