About Zeal

Zeal is addressing the critical challenge of untapped transactional data. At the moment, whenever a transaction is processed on a POS terminal (payment card machine), physical retailers have no idea who the paying customer is, unless they use a loyalty program. Think of when you go to a supermarket and you pay by card , unless you go to a supermarket that has a loyalty program and you get your loyalty card out, the POS terminal doesn't tell the retailer if you're a new or returning customer, demographics, gender, etc. Unlike e-ecommerce, in physical retail customer identification always had to be a separate step because the payment terminal is not built to self-identify the paying customer. Hence, a plethora of valuable data is lost or underutilized. With Zeal’s advanced Smart POS plugin, the company integrates with POS terminals globally to provide payment acquirers and ISVs with a unique differentiator for their POS terminals. The merchants of our partners benefit from world-class data, analytics & tools to predict consumer behavior using Artificial Intelligence, enabling merchants to unlock the full potential of transactional data.

About the Role

We’re on the lookout for a QA Lead to drive our testing strategy, establish scalable quality processes, and mentor a growing team of QA engineers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in building strong testing frameworks, ensuring product quality in a fast-paced environment, and fostering a culture of excellence across engineering squads.

You’ll collaborate closely with engineering leadership, product managers, and developers to ensure our software is reliable, user-friendly, and delivered with minimal defects, while also embedding test automation, continuous quality practices, and data-driven improvements into our workflows.

Your Main Responsibilities Are to:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously evolve comprehensive test strategies and processes for all product releases.
  • Lead and mentor a team of QA engineers, ensuring consistent application of testing best practices.
  • Design, maintain, and optimize automated test frameworks for functional, regression, performance, and API testing.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to define acceptance criteria, quality gates, and release standards.
  • Partner with engineering teams to embed quality early in the SDLC (shift-left testing).
  • Ensure robust coverage with manual, automated, performance, and regression testing across platforms.
  • Analyze test results, conduct root-cause analysis, and ensure effective defect management processes.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to improve release efficiency.
  • Track and report on quality metrics (e.g., defect density, coverage, automation rate) to demonstrate improvements.
  • Assess risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure high-quality, timely releases.
  • Champion QA documentation best practices, including test plans, test cases, and release reports.

The Ideal Candidate Should Have:

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in Software QA, with at least 2 years in a lead role.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring QA teams.
  • Strong expertise in test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright).
  • Hands-on experience with API testing tools and scripting (e.g., Postman, RestAssured).
  • Familiarity with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, k6).
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, QA methodologies, and risk management practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail).
  • Track record of integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

Nice to Haves:

  • Exposure to cloud environments (AWS or equivalent).
  • Experience with BDD/TDD frameworks (e.g., Cucumber, SpecFlow).
  • Knowledge of security testing practices.
  • Background in mobile app testing (manual and automation).
  • Experience with cloud-based testing platforms (e.g., BrowserStack, Sauce Labs).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Understanding of quality metrics in DevOps/SRE contexts.
