Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Test Engineer to support the development and characterization of advanced optical components used in next-generation AR/VR/MR systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in optical metrology, LED/display technologies, interferometry, and optical performance evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
Characterize surface roughness and geometry profiles of optical components such as lenses and films
Evaluate color profiles and spectral responses of displays, lenses, and optical assemblies
Measure thickness, flatness, and parallelism of precision optical parts
Analyze optical performance parameters including MTF, PSF, and ESF
Perform polarization, spectral response, stress, and birefringence analysis
Align optical components and systems for accurate testing and validation
Design and develop testing setups, fixtures, and experimental jigs
Utilize interferometers for film characterization, lens geometry validation, and surface thickness measurements
Characterize display color spectrum, brightness, and pixel intensity performance
Prepare and present test reports and technical findings to manufacturing and engineering teams
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve optical system performance and manufacturing quality
Research & Development Focus Areas
Projection technologies for AR/VR/MR applications
Light modulation using standard, Fresnel, and thin-film optics
Polarization control technologies including beam splitters, mirrors, and birefringence applications
Optical simulation and system modeling
Thin-film optical filtering technologies including diffusers, polarizers, selective mirrors, and color filters
Development of waveguide and prism-based optical systems
Required Qualifications
Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in Optical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Electronics, or related field
Strong knowledge of optical metrology equipment and testing methodologies
Experience with interferometers, spectrometers, polarization analysis, and display characterization tools
Understanding of LED physics, display systems, and optical instrumentation
Familiarity with AR/VR/MR optical architectures is highly preferred
Experience in optical simulation/modeling tools is an advantage
Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced R&D and manufacturing environment
Preferred Experience
Experience with waveguides, prism optics, Fresnel optics, or thin-film technologies
Hands-on experience in optical system alignment and calibration
Prior exposure to consumer electronics, wearable devices, or display technologies preferred
