Ahead Group is looking for a QA Automation Engineer to join a client in the conversational AI/telephony sector. The ideal candidate will own QA automation for Japanese-language IVR and AI call flows and act as a technical liaison during customer integrations, ensuring reliable quality across speech recognition, TTS, and LLM-driven experiences.
Tokyo or Osaka location possible.
β’ Design and implement scalable test automation frameworks for Japanese-language IVR and AI call flows
β’ Write, execute, and maintain end-to-end, regression, and integration tests for ASR/TTS/conversational flows
β’ Perform targeted manual testing for Japanese-language scenarios when appropriate
β’ Log, track, and verify defects across releases; produce clear English bug reports and documentation
β’ Partner with PMs/engineers to define QA strategies for new features and releases
β’ Plan and implement strategies to test non-deterministic, LLM-driven responses
β’ Integrate tests with CI/CD pipelines; maintain test data, mocks, and quality gates
β’ 3+ years in QA/test automation or software engineering
β’ Hands-on experience building/maintaining frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium)
β’ Strong knowledge of REST APIs, CI/CD workflows, and Git
β’ Excellent debugging and test case design skills
β’ Japanese: native or near-native; English: business level
β’ Able to write concise bug reports in English and explain technical issues in Japanese
β’ Comfortable operating in startup/scale-up environments
β’ Experience with IVR, speech recognition, telephony (e.g., SIP, Twilio, Asterisk), or AI/NLU systems
β’ Exposure to LLMs or Generative AI products
β’ Familiarity with Postman, JMeter, or LoadRunner for API/performance testing
β’ Knowledge of Japan-specific testing tools/platforms
