QA Engineer

Our world is transforming, and PTC is leading the way. Our software brings the physical and digital worlds together, enabling companies to improve operations, create better products, and empower people in all aspects of their business.

Our people make all the difference in our success. Today, we are a global team of nearly 7,000 and our main objective is to create opportunities for our team members to explore, learn, and grow – all while seeing their ideas come to life and celebrating the differences that make us who we are and the work we do possible.

We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our Cambridgebased CAD / PLM engineering team, contributing to the quality and reliability of complex, cloudenabled product development platforms.

This role sits within a modern SaaS-oriented PLM environment, where CAD and PLM capabilities are delivered through scalable backend services, rich web-based user interfaces, and cloudnative infrastructure. You will work closely with fullstack engineers, frontend developers, and DevOps teams to ensure high quality across the entire solution.

Quality is treated as a shared responsibility, and this role is embedded directly within agile development teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, execute, and maintain manual and automated tests for CAD / PLM web applications

  • Validate functionality across frontend UI, backend services, APIs, and data layers

  • Test complex workflows typical of CAD / PLM domains (configuration, data integrity, performance, integration points)

  • Contribute to and extend test automation frameworks (UI and API level)

  • Collaborate closely with engineers working in TypeScript and Node.js (NestJS / Express)

  • Test frontend applications built with Angular and modern UI patterns

  • Validate backend logic using ORMs such as TypeORM, Prisma, or equivalent, and SQL databases

  • Support testing in cloudnative and containerized environments, including Kubernetes

  • Participate in CI/CD pipelines, ensuring tests are executed as part of build and deployment processes

  • Perform regression, integration, exploratory, and acceptance testing

  • Actively participate in defect triage, root cause analysis, and quality improvement discussions

Required Qualifications

  • Experience as a QA Engineer / Software Test Engineer in a complex software environment

  • Handson experience testing webbased SaaS platforms

  • Strong experience with test automation (UI and/or API)

  • Working knowledge of JavaScript / TypeScript

  • Experience testing Node.js backend services (NestJS, Express, or similar frameworks)

  • Familiarity with frontend frameworks, especially Angular

  • Experience testing systems using ORMs (TypeORM, Prisma, or similar) and SQL-based databases

  • Understanding of Agile / Scrum development methodologies

  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience testing CAD, PLM, or engineering software platforms

  • Exposure to Kubernetes or containerized systems

  • Experience working in DevOpsleaning environments

  • API testing experience (REST, JSON, OpenAPI)

  • Experience with cloudhosted, scalable SaaS architectures

Why This Role

  • Work on enterprisegrade CAD / PLM platforms with real technical complexity

  • Be part of a Cambridge-based R&D organization with strong engineering culture

  • Collaborate closely with fullstack, frontend, and DevOps engineers

  • Influence product quality early in the development lifecycle

  • Clear growth paths toward Senior QA Engineer / Quality Engineer roles
