I’m working with a high-calibre cyber security company that is operating at a high-level. The team is small, deeply technical, and already trusted by high-value enterprise customers to solve complex security problems.
  
As the company continues to scale its engineering capability, they’re looking to hire for their QA Lead. This is a high-impact role where you’ll define how quality is engineered across the platform, designing frameworks, introducing automation, and embedding testing practices into the development lifecycle.
  
This isn’t a traditional QA environment with existing processes in place. Instead, you’ll be building the quality function from the ground up, working closely with strong engineers who value pragmatic, well-designed systems.
  
The Opportunity
You’ll take ownership of testing strategy, frameworks, and tooling, ensuring the platform maintains the reliability and usability expected by demanding enterprise customers.
  
The product spans backend systems, APIs, web UI, and mobile interfaces, so you’ll be responsible for establishing testing coverage across the full stack.
  
While this role is strategic, it’s also hands-on. You’ll initially be the sole QA engineer — designing automation frameworks, implementing regression coverage, and shaping how quality fits into the company’s engineering culture.
  
QA Lead Responsibilities

• Establish the company’s quality engineering strategy
• Design and implement automation frameworks and testing infrastructure
• Introduce scalable manual, automated, and regression testing practices
• Ensure coverage across backend services, APIs, web UI, and mobile
• Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and frequent releases
• Work closely with engineers to improve testability and system reliability
• Define quality metrics and release confidence standards
• Lead defect investigation and ensure issues are properly validated and reproduced
• Lay the foundations for growing the QA team over time

• Strong background in software quality engineering
• Experience designing test frameworks and automation from scratch
• Proven hands-on experience across manual, automated, and regression testing
• Experience testing modern web applications and mobile interfaces
• Strong experience with API and backend testing
• Experience integrating testing with CI/CD pipelines
• Comfortable working in early-stage or scaling environments
• Strong collaboration skills with engineers and product teams
• Experience working in cyber security, infrastructure, or developer tooling
• Experience testing distributed or cloud-native systems
• Exposure to performance, reliability, or security testing
• Experience being an early QA hire or building QA capability in a scaling company
