Description
The team you'll be part ofΒ
A flexible team with a passion for embedded Linux software development. We are interacting closely with the hardware team and with our application development colleagues. We are working in an agile manner.
Youβll get ample opportunity to get acquainted with the organization, our way of working and products. During this training period, the team will support you with specific on-hands / on-the-job training. Next to that, you will have a wide variety of high-quality on-line training material at your disposal.
In our embedded Linux based products, we not only leverage Linux itself but all kinds of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). Apart from the obvious advantages that come with deploying FOSS, thereβs the continuous challenge of keeping our FOSS secure and up to date. It is in this context that we are reinforcing our team with a software test engineer who is passionate about open source software in general and security in particular. In this role, you will contribute to defining and executing white- and black-box testing of our products, with a specific focus on security. The definition of these tests is driven by internal as well as external requirements from customers and governmental bodies. In this way, you contribute to the day-to-day maintenance of our FOSS components and innovative ways to streamline and automate their validation.
Β
ResponsibilitiesAs part of our team, you will:
- Clarify customer requirements;
- Acquire a thorough insight into a wide variety of hardware components, going from simple i2c temperature sensors, over persistent storage devices (eMMC, NOR) to full Systems-on-Chip (typically supported by a reference design) and research how these components fit into new to-be-developed products;
- Be accountable for the long-term quality of the soft- and testware delivered;
- Interact with project managers to give regular updates of identified issues;
- Define and write test cases (Python or shell script) and automate them, typically in the context of a (Jenkins) CI server;
- Streamline FOSS maintenance and reporting through advanced automation strategies;
- Define (long term) strategy of maintenance and evolution of our FOSS and the overall test scope and infrastructure (physical or cloud);
- Troubleshoot software on target hardware and in a simulation environment;
- Define and discuss test plans for new features including corner cases, defining stress tests, etc.;
- Contribute to building physical test setups, test execution, bug reproduction and test automation (CI/robot framework);
- Investigate issues, allowing you familiarize yourself with the software, this will open the opportunity to also actively contribute on bug fixing and implementation of features.
