Senior Software Tester
Astek Sweden ABWe are looking for an experienced Software Tester to support the development and verification of advanced avionics systems within the aerospace and defence domain. This assignment plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety and performance of software used in safety-critical environments.
In this role, you will work with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test environments and collaborate closely with engineering teams to validate avionics software under realistic operating conditions. The role may focus on either high-level or low-level testing, depending on project needs.
Due to the nature of the work and the use of physical test equipment, the assignment requires on-site presence.
Responsibilities
β’ Develop and maintain test plans, test cases and automated test scripts for avionics software
β’ Execute software tests and document test results and findings
β’ Perform verification activities using hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test rigs
β’ Identify, analyze and report software defects and anomalies
β’ Collaborate with software, systems and integration engineers to resolve issues
β’ Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety requirements
β’ Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes and software quality
Qualifications
β’ Proven experience as a Software Tester within avionics, automotive, or embedded systems
β’ Experience working with HIL test environments (e.g., dSpace or similar platforms)
β’ Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and verification processes
β’ Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting languages
β’ Ability to work both independently and in cross-functional engineering teams
β’ Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability and attention to detail
β’ Fluency in English
Meritorious Experience
β’ Experience with both high-level and low-level software testing
β’ Familiarity with DO-178C or similar avionics software standards
β’ Knowledge of safety-critical software development processes
β’ Experience working in agile development environments
β’ Strong technical documentation and communication skills
β’ Certifications related to software testing or avionics
Additional Information
This role involves working with physical avionics test equipment, therefore on-site work is required.
Some assignments may require security clearance or specific citizenship, depending on client requirements.
