Job description

Working with and for a smile
At Jumbo, our ambition is to be the most customer-oriented company. We aim to surprise customers and exceed their expectations so they enjoy shopping with us. With over 700 stores in the Netherlands and Belgium, home delivery via jumbo.com, our own distribution centers, and dedicated office teams, we work together every day to achieve this goal. Entrepreneurship in service of the customer – that’s what we stand for.

As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you play a key role in realizing Jumbo’s Retail Media ambitions. Retail Media is growing rapidly, and to support the increasing demand from advertisers, we are building scalable and efficient technical solutions. These allow us to support campaign operations and provide advertisers with fast, clear, and accurate results. That’s why we’re looking for skilled Engineers like you.

Your role
We are forming a new team focused on delivering campaign results quickly and accurately. As an SDET in this team, you will help build a new web interface where advertisers can easily view their campaign performance. You are responsible for the overall quality of the solution: from stable data pipelines to a reliable web application.

Quality goes beyond testing β€” you help create a team culture where testability and reliability are part of the development process from the start. You’ll work on complex end-to-end tests, develop test scenarios, maintain automation frameworks, and continuously improve quality.

You’ll collaborate closely with Data Engineers to optimize pipelines and with Developers to ensure the web application is robust. Your contribution is essential to building reliable, scalable Retail Media solutions. You’ll also work with other teams, like the Test Automation Chapter, and challenge colleagues to think differently.

Together, we are Jumbo
Jumbo is dynamic β€” no day is the same. We move fast, constantly look for improvements, and encourage you to take initiative and seize opportunities. You’ll work in an informal environment where humor, teamwork, and ownership are part of the culture.

The Agile team will include a Product Owner, two Data Engineers, a Backend Developer, a Frontend Developer, and an SDET. You’ll be part of the broader Customer & Assortment department. Development starts this year, with a planned go-live in summer 2026. After launch, the team will continue to build on Jumbo’s Retail Media future.

Profile

At Jumbo, we’re looking for go-getters β€” people with great ideas and the courage to put them into action together. People who care about each other: our customers, colleagues, and the world around us. We strive to do things a little better every single day. All our (future) colleagues carry a healthy dose of Jumbo DNA β€” and so do you!

In addition, you bring:

  • At least 5 years of experience with test automation in a similar role
  • Experience testing data pipelines and web applications & services
  • Skilled in defining and setting up test strategies
  • The ability to make quality an integral part of the team
  • ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level, TMAP, or iSQI CAT/PAQ certification
  • Knowledge of cloud services, preferably AWS and/or Azure

    Β

We offer

At Jumbo, you’ll find a work environment with warmth, enjoyment, and attention for each other. Where you have plenty of room to contribute to our ambition of becoming the most customer-oriented company. Just as you’re there for our customers, we’re there for you. Additionally, you’ll receive:

  • A gross salary between €4.000 - €5.800 per month (based on 40 hours).
  • An annual bonus of max 5% of your annual salary, based on organizational goals.
  • 30 days of paid holiday (with the opportunity to buy or sell days of paid holiday) and 8% holiday allowance.
  • You build up a pension through participation in the Pension Fund for the Food Industry.
  • An allowance for your travel expenses (€ 0.21 cents per kilometer with a maximum of 35 kilometers one way). We like to work together in the office, but you can also work partly from home.
  • Room for entrepreneurship, growth and development. Not only in your job but also through our Jumbo Academy, online training through GoodHabitz and with a training budget.
  • Daily fresh lunch in our FoodcafΓ©, good coffee and fresh fruit. You can sport daily at our own Jumbo Gym for a small fee.
  • Colleague discounts such as 10% off your groceries (up to €325 per year), participation in our collective health insurance or discounts through Benefits at Work.
