This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) in California (USA).

In this role, you will be part of a high-performing Quality Engineering team responsible for ensuring software quality across microservices, APIs, and user interfaces. You will design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks while collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement scalable, robust testing solutions. This position emphasizes both hands-on development and strategic input, contributing to the continuous improvement of CI/CT/CD pipelines and test automation standards. You will help shape the test strategy for new and legacy systems, providing insights into software quality, performance, and reliability. The role is ideal for engineers passionate about automation, microservices, and building high-quality software products.

Accountabilities

As an SDET, you will:

  • Develop and maintain automated tests across UI, API, and microservices layers.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, development, and DevOps teams to design test strategies and automation approaches.
  • Implement and support CI/CT/CD pipelines for continuous testing and quality assurance.
  • Provide technical guidance and feedback on software design and development processes to improve quality.
  • Conduct code reviews, maintain test frameworks, and ensure adherence to test standards and best practices.
  • Analyze defects, anticipate risks, and provide solutions to ensure timely resolution and product quality.
  • Maintain technical documentation related to test architecture, design, and integration processes.
  • Facilitate test automation metrics and report on testing effectiveness to stakeholders.



Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Test Engineer or SDET in a microservices environment.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, and experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, or Ruby.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools like Cypress or Selenium.
  • Knowledge of testing methodologies, techniques, and best practices for UI, API, and functional/non-functional testing.
  • Experience with SQL Server or other databases, constructing test queries, and validating data.
  • Familiarity with CI/CT/CD pipelines and quality gating policies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred: experience with performance testing tools (e.g., K6), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and Jira or similar project tracking tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
