Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) located in Brazil to join our remote team on a contract basis. As an SDET, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products by developing robust automated test frameworks and tools. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects in a collaborative, agile environment with a distributed team.

This is a remote contract position (full-time, long-term) with working hours that require overlap with Eastern Standard Time (EST). Most meetings occur between 12:00 and 18:00 Brazil/Sao Paulo time.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for web applications, mobile platforms, and backend APIs.
  • Write efficient, reliable, and reusable test cases using modern test automation tools and programming languages (e.g. Java, Kotlin).
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and help manage test execution environments.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and QA analysts to define test strategies and improve quality processes.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects; assist in root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and test coverage metrics.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to code, test coverage, and system architecture from a testability and performance perspective.

Key Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in software testing with a strong focus on test automation and framework development.
  • Expert in the Playwright test automation tool. Familiarity with other test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, TestNG, or Pytest.
  • Solid understanding of API testing, RESTful services, and tools like Postman, RestAssured, or Swagger.
  • Experience leveraging AI in test automation.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, or JavaScript).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Harness, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, or GitLab CI.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools like Docker is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Comfortable working remotely and independently in a distributed, multicultural team.
  • Must be based in Brazil and legally eligible to work as an independent contractor for a U.S. company.


The hourly rate for this position is starting at $22 USD. Final rate is based on candidate experience and skill level.
