This position functions as a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) As a Senior SDET within PNC’s Consumer Lending Originations Technology organization, you will play a critical role in leading quality strategy and test automation for large scale, enterprise initiatives. This role is ideal for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who combines strong technical depth with hands on leadership, modern automation practices, and banking domain expertise. This position will be based in Pittsburgh, PA; Strongsville, OH; Birmingham, AL; or Dallas, TX.

This role is responsible for owning and driving the quality engineering strategy for complex, distributed systems supporting consumer lending and banking platforms. The successful candidate will lead test automation, influence architectural quality decisions, and ensure that testing is deeply embedded into CI/CD pipelines across multiple teams and programs.
You will partner closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders, mentor junior Quality Assurance engineers, and act as a quality leader for large scale initiatives that span multiple applications and technologies.


Responsibilities include:
• Senior level experience as an SDET or QA Engineer, with a strong focus on automation and enterprise systems.
• Proven experience leading testing efforts for large scale, multi team initiatives.
• Strong hands on expertise with:
o Java, Selenium, Cucumber/Gherkin
o API testing (REST, SOAP)
o CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates
• Experience working with Kafka, Web Services, Oracle, MongoDB, and distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of test strategy, governance, and risk based testing.
• Experience in banking or financial services is strongly preferred.

Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $55,000.00 – $152,375.00

Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
