QA Analyst

The Senior Software QA Analyst plays a key role in upholding the ThriftBooks quality standards across software projects, products, and enhancements. This role partners closely with Software Engineers and Product Managers to design and execute effective testing strategies, ensuring the delivery of reliable, high-quality software on schedule.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Analyze requirements and specifications, translating them into detailed test plans and test cases
  • Execute testing activities, including regression and impact analysis, while documenting, tracking, and troubleshooting defects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate testing efforts and ensure product quality
  • Prepare and deliver QA metrics and status reports on test coverage, efficiency, and results
  • Stay current with evolving testing tools, techniques, and best practices to continually improve processes

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with at least 5 years in a software testing environment
  • Strong knowledge of formal software test methodologies, principles, and best practices, including functional, regression, integration, and deployment testing
  • Hands-on experience testing web-based applications and web services (SOAP, REST)
  • Proficiency in creating and executing test scripts, test cases, and test plans, with familiarity in automation frameworks and tools such as Playwright
  • Familiarity with programming, along with SQL expertise for writing and modifying queries
  • Experience with DevOps and project management tools such as Microsoft Azure DevOps, JIRA, and Confluence
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to document clearly and collaborate effectively across multiple projects
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and work independently under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on quality

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Stability: We've been in business for 20 years. We have 1,100+ employees across the country. We are profitable and growing.
  • Visibility: We are small enough that you will see how your contributions directly affect the bottom line of the business.
  • Technology: We are both a web company (thriftbooks.com), and a logistics company (managing millions of books in 5 distribution centers across the country). We sell in a market that is very competitive and we use technology as a competitive advantage.
  • Flexibility: We have flexible work schedules and offer 3 weeks of annual paid vacation to start.Β We support full-time remote work or working from our office in the Seattle area.
  • Organization: We've all been at companies where everything is a fire drill. ThriftBooks is not that company.
  • Opportunities to Grow: We encourage learning. We give ourselves time (and resources) to take in-person or online classes or explore new technologies. That time is baked into every sprint. We try new ideas and we keep the ones that work.
  • Software Process Maturity: We use Azure DevOps and Git to manage our work. We run on well-defined 2-week sprints. We focus on code coverage, build when we check in, and have automated releases for our applications. These are small things, but they matter.
