Xestro develops Australiaβs largest cloud-based practice management and electronic medical record platform for private medical specialists. Our software is used by hundreds of specialist practices across the country every day, helping thousands of healthcare professionals manage appointments, clinical records, prescribing, correspondence and billing.
Weβre looking for an experienced QA Lead to take ownership of our quality assurance function and help shape how we continue to build reliable, secure and high-quality healthcare software.
About the Role
This is a leadership role with hands-on technical responsibility.
Youβll lead a team of QA Analysts while remaining actively involved in defining testing strategy, improving automation, guiding engineering quality practices and making release readiness decisions. Quality Assurance at Xestro is an independent function that works collaboratively with Engineering and Product to ensure software is delivered safely, efficiently and with confidence.
What Youβll Do
- Lead and develop Xestroβs QA team through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
- Define and evolve our quality assurance strategy, standards and testing practices.
- Own our Playwright automation framework and continue expanding automated coverage across the platform.
- Drive the adoption of AI-assisted quality assurance while ensuring appropriate governance and human oversight.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to improve acceptance criteria, testability and overall software quality.
- Assess release readiness and provide independent quality assurance for software releases.
- Report quality metrics, trends and risks directly to the CTO.
About You
Youβll bring:
- Extensive experience in software quality assurance within a product development environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing QA teams.
- Strong hands-on automation experience using Playwright or a comparable framework.
- Experience designing quality strategies, test frameworks and CI/CD testing practices.
- Experience making release readiness decisions based on evidence and risk.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders.
- An interest in using AI to improve software quality and engineering productivity.
Experience in healthcare software, regulated industries or ISO 27001 environments will be highly regarded.
