Software Tester

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute test cases of varying complexity, including medium and high-level scenarios
• Perform system and process testing and identify, log, and track defects according to defined standards
• Participate actively across all testing phases, including unit, system, regression, stability, distribution, and disaster recovery testing
• Conduct exploratory testing where formal test cases are not available, particularly within agile environments
• Capture and manage defects in HP Quality Centre (QC) in line with reporting standards
• Monitor and support early identification of system defects and failures
• Perform backward compatibility testing across different software versions
• Conduct compatibility testing across applications, operating systems, and browser versions
• Ensure testing activities align with service delivery, quality, and financial accuracy requirements
• Update test progress and documentation within QC accurately and timeously
• Accumulate testing data and contribute to reports with findings and recommendations
• Identify trends, risks, and potential system issues using practical analysis and judgement
• Communicate findings, interpretations, and testing outcomes effectively to relevant stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards during all testing activities
• Support process improvements and implement changes as required within the testing environment
• Contribute to operational optimisation by identifying risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities

Requirements:

• National Diploma / Advanced Certificate (NQF 6) in Information Technology with 2–3 years’ software testing experience, including 1–2 years working experience
  OR
• Senior Certificate (NQF 4) with 3–5 years’ software testing experience, including 1–2 years working experience

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel
• Experience using HP Quality Centre (QC) or similar test management tools
• Understanding of software testing principles, processes, and methodologies
• Knowledge of testing across multiple environments and system types
• Familiarity with defect tracking and reporting standards
• Understanding of software quality management practices
