What is the purpose of this job?
The Technical QA Manager will be chiefly responsible for managing and delivering QA across programs and projects with a specific attention to the technical capabilities of QA as a service. They will be required to support the Senior QA Manager with developing and managing the Quasar Framework for RDG along with delivery of automation and CI CD as a key element of QA delivery. As Technical QA Manager within the RDG, this role will be responsible for the testing and the implementation of multiple projects across the organisation and involve stake holder management and reporting. The remit of this role will also include working with the various internal teams, external and internal stakeholders to ensure delivery of technical QA services across programs, projects and BAU. Specific focus on QA delivery by actively managing automation and CI CD through adoption of the right practices and processes is key.
What can I expect to do in this job?
This isn’t an exhaustive list, but things you can expect to be involved with include:
· Managing, conducting, and ensuring technical QA delivery along with standard QA delivery across projects and programs in line with delivery plans for the departments and services.
· Support the senior QA Manager to manage and maintain the Quasar Framework and documentation in confluence and ASSIST.
· Be responsible to Senior QA Manager for the testing tools, templates, and practices within the team, ensuring adherence of these across projects, and to the overall program strategy for all development methodologies – waterfall, agile and iterative.
· Develop and maintain Test and QA strategies across programs and projects.
· Support creation and management of test plans and all key QA deliverables within the Quasar Framework.
· Create, manage, and maintain requirement traceability management for various systems.
· Manage a broad team of test professionals – onsite, offshore and supplier.
· Take the lead and support Senior QA Manager in the growth and establishment of Automation (and CI CD practices) within the Quasar Framework.
· Deliver QA through established tools – ALM, JIRA, ReadyAPI, ConnectALL, AWS, Appium, VPNs, Slack, Github, Gitlab, Enterprise Architecture PyCharm (Selenium and Playwright etc) and ASSIST, defect management – JIRA, system knowledge and reporting – Confluence and any other tool that is shortlisted for delivery by Head of Service Assurance or other related departments .
· Support and manage requirement traceability with Automated suites through the apt use of branches in GitHub and JIRA
· Develop and maintain automation pipelines in Gitlab with clear linkage to GitHub.
· Manage clear management of repositories in GitHub through established processes in branch management and code reviews.
· Support the generation of Code Review practices and manage it regularly within the team.
· Environment management of systems through apt use of relevant tools like AWS, Docker and Vagrant.
· Compliment automation framework with SOAP UI, JMeter and REST.
· Ensure resource plans are in place to deliver against the agreed budget and timeframes
· Ensure that testing risks and issues are documented, actioned, and tracked.
· Establish Program Level Real time reporting using available testing tools.
· Ensure adherence to RDG QA best practices
· Identify team training requirements and assist in the creation of personalised development plans (PDPs)
· Identify best solution for the implementation of automation practices within RDG
· Set up and impart knowledge of Automation and Testing Frameworks within RDG
· Work with Service Assurance leadership and other departments to deliver a support framework for AI functionality to enhance productivity on QA deliverables.
· Demonstrate good team management and practices to support EDI and good team personal development.
· Working with suppliers to ensure best collaborative practices within RDG and rail industry
