Β 

The ideal candidate will beΒ responsible for end-to-end test governance across card payment platforms, ensuring high-quality, secure, and compliant delivery of payment solutions. This role oversees test strategy, planning, execution, environments, automation, and stakeholder coordination across issuing, acquiring, and transaction processing systems. The incumbent will ensure all testing activities meet regulatory, scheme, and internal quality standards while enabling seamless and reliable card payment operations across multiple channels and networks.

Key Responsibilities

1. Test Strategy & Governance

  • Define, develop, and own the overall test strategy for card payment platforms and related initiatives.
  • Establish test planning frameworks aligned with SDLC, Agile, and DevOps methodologies.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational testing standards, QA processes, and best practices.
  • Define and enforce entry/exit criteria for all testing phases.
  • Track and report key quality metrics including defect leakage, test coverage, and execution progress.
  • Ensure full compliance coverage across regulatory, internal audit, and scheme requirements.

2. Card Payments Domain Testing

  • Oversee end-to-end testing across card issuing and acquiring systems.
  • Validate complete transaction lifecycle including:
    • Authorization
    • Clearing
    • Settlement
    • Reconciliation
  • Ensure accurate testing of payment channels including:
    • POS transactions
    • E-commerce payments
    • ATM withdrawals
    • Contactless payments (NFC)
    • Digital wallets and tokenized payments
  • Validate interoperability across internal systems and external payment networks.
  • Ensure transaction accuracy, latency validation, and failure scenario handling.

3. Scheme & Compliance Testing

  • Ensure compliance testing across major card schemes including:
    • Visa
    • Mastercard
    • American Express
    • UnionPay
    • JCB
  • Interpret and apply scheme mandates, bulletins, and technical updates into test coverage.
  • Ensure adherence to PCI DSS and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Coordinate certification testing with payment networks where required.

4. Test Execution Management

  • Lead system testing (SIT), integration testing (SIT/UAT support), regression testing, and production validation testing.
  • Oversee test planning, scheduling, and execution across multiple parallel releases.
  • Manage defect lifecycle including logging, triage, prioritization, tracking, and closure.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for critical production and testing defects.
  • Provide detailed test progress, risk, and quality reporting to stakeholders.

5. Test Environment & Data Management

  • Manage and coordinate test environments for card payment systems.
  • Ensure environment readiness, stability, and availability for test execution cycles.
  • Coordinate test data setup, masking, and refresh activities.
  • Manage dependencies across upstream/downstream systems and third-party simulators.
  • Ensure proper usage of scheme simulators and payment network test tools.

6. Automation & Tooling

  • Define and drive test automation strategy for card payment platforms.
  • Identify opportunities for automation across regression and functional testing.
  • Evaluate and implement tools for:
    • Transaction simulation
    • Regression automation
    • API testing
    • Performance and resilience testing
  • Promote continuous testing practices within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Improve test efficiency through reusable frameworks and scripting.

7. Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including:
    • Business and Product teams
    • Development and Engineering teams
    • Compliance and Risk teams
    • Operations and Production Support teams
  • Coordinate with external vendors, payment processors, and scheme representatives.
  • Manage communication across cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on test readiness and execution timelines.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8–15+ years of experience in software testing, with strong focus on payments/card domain.
  • Deep understanding of card payment systems (issuing, acquiring, switching).
  • Strong experience in end-to-end transaction testing in banking or fintech environments.
  • Familiarity with payment schemes and certification processes.
  • Experience in test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, RestAssured, Postman, or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum and SDLC practices.
  • Experience managing test teams and large-scale testing programs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and defect RCA skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ISO 8583 message standards.
  • Exposure to payment gateways, switches, or core banking systems.
  • Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
  • Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Prior experience working in banks, card processors, or fintech companies.
