Position: Vehicle Test Engineer

Compensation: $85,000-$110,000 annually, based on experience
Reports to: HPG Facility & Operations Manager
Position Summary: Supports all Huntsville Proving Grounds (HPG) and off-site tire testing for vehicle tire development οΏ½ pcr/ltr. Performs and supports the testing of development tires through test driving and reporting. Preparation and tear down of vehicle tests which includes; vehicle acquisition and setup, mounting and balancing tires, equipment installation. Operates to a test schedule issued by HPG leadership. Prepare and present comprehensive evaluation results through detailed reporting to SRI and SRI America, Inc. engineers.
Essential Functions/Duties:
οΏ½ Under the direction of the Testing Manager provides a comprehensive testing service through tire testing.
οΏ½ Provides guidance and direction to HPG support staff, as well as participation in all testing functions.
οΏ½ Develops new tests in all disciplines to:
a) Improve current methods to better define test results.
b) Understand and study new aspects of tire performance.
οΏ½ Issues comprehensive reports on the results of testing performed in a timely manner.
οΏ½ Under direction of HPG leadership, liaison with SRI test groups and OEM through joint testing and training.
οΏ½ Assists in the organization and maintenance of the HPG testing service area and warehouse.
οΏ½ Daily shop upkeep οΏ½ housekeeping duties and facility security.
οΏ½ Provide assistance to higher level engineers in all testing and traveling when necessary.
οΏ½ Assists in the transactions involved with the shipping and receiving of test tires, rims and related equipment.
οΏ½ Assists HPG technicians in test setup and breakdown.
οΏ½ Operate to a defined test priority sheet issued by HPG leadership.
οΏ½ Participates in the maintenance of equipment used for tire testing.
οΏ½ Maintain circuit and facility equipment οΏ½ sprinklers, cones, track cleaning, electric gateοΏ½.etc.
οΏ½ Supports marketing, sales, and motorsports events as requested, travel may be required.
οΏ½ Responsible for any other additional duties as assigned by Management.
οΏ½ Work to highest levels of safety and quality οΏ½ follow all IATF standards.
οΏ½ Active involvement in all IATF audit activity.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
οΏ½ Technical or Engineering degree preferred / High School Diploma or equivalent required.
οΏ½ Three (3) yearsοΏ½ experience in the tire or automotive industry οΏ½ relevant experience, autocross, club / professional racing or race team participation.
οΏ½ Must have excellent analytical skills, common sense, and good reasoning skills.
οΏ½ Must be proficient in MS Office programs and technical report writing formats.
οΏ½ Must be able to communicate effectively with diplomacy and tact.
οΏ½ Must be able to stand, sit, move, and use fingers for extended periods of time. Will require working primarily on a level hard surface, reaching above shoulder heights and below the waist, as well as lifting to 100 pounds.
οΏ½ Must be able to travel and work weekends. Travel time 50%.
