QA Engineer

Job Summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced Senior Automation QA Engineer with a focus on automation testing to strengthen our assurance capabilities. This role involves developing, maintaining, and executing automated test scripts for both front-end and back-end applications, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. The ideal candidate will bring over six years of relevant experience, a strong technical foundation, and a proactive approach to problem-solving to support our agile development process and continuous improvement goals.

Software Requirements

Required:

  • Automation testing tools: Selenium, Playwright, RestAssured, Postman
  • Programming languages: JavaScript, TypeScript (hands-on experience in scripting automation)
  • Version control: Git
  • Continuous Integration tools: Jenkins
  • Databases: SQL (preferably MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar)
  • Basic familiarity with Pega applications (preferable)

Preferred:

  • Amex internal automation testing tools (willingness to learn)
  • Additional test frameworks or tools (e.g., Cucumber, TestNG)

Overall Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain automated test cases for frontend (React or related JS/TypeScript frameworks) and backend Pega applications
  • Troubleshoot and debug automation scripts to ensure efficient and reliable testing processes
  • Review and improve test scripts, test plans, and cases to maximize coverage and effectiveness
  • Collaborate within agile teams during sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups
  • Provide feedback on test results, defects, and testing strategies to facilitate product quality improvements
  • Contribute to the creation and enforcement of best practices for automation testing across projects
  • Support continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines through automation and scripting
  • Stay current on testing frameworks, tools, and industry trends to optimize testing methods

Technical Skills (By Category)

Programming Languages (Essential):

  • JavaScript, TypeScript
  • Java (preferred for automation scripting with Selenium & RestAssured)

Databases/Data Management:

  • SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar) for data validation and test data management

Frameworks and Libraries:

  • Selenium WebDriver (latest version)
  • Playwright (preferred)
  • RestAssured or equivalent API testing libraries
  • Postman for API testing

Development Tools and Methodologies:

  • Git for version control
  • Jenkins for CI/CD integration
  • Agile testing practices and methodologies (scrum, sprint planning)

Security Protocols:

  • Basic familiarity with test data security and compliance practices

Experience Requirements

  • 6-8 years of hands-on experience in automation testing and QA
  • Proven experience with UI automation testing frameworks like Selenium and Playwright
  • Strong scripting experience in JavaScript and Java development skills
  • Experience in testing both frontend applications (React, Angular, or similar JS frameworks) and backend services, including Pega applications (preferable)
  • Familiarity with testing REST APIs using RestAssured or Postman
  • Experience working within Agile teams, participating actively in planning, review, and retrospective sessions
  • Prior exposure to source control and build tools (Git, Jenkins)

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Write, review, and maintain automated test scripts for front-end and back-end systems
  • Perform automated regression testing and troubleshoot test failures
  • Collaborate with development teams during sprint cycles to align testing strategies with development progress
  • Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to team members
  • Participate in test planning, reporting, and defect triage meetings
  • Support CI/CD pipeline automation efforts by integrating tests and scripts
  • Stay engaged in learning new testing tools or updates to existing frameworks
  • Document test cases, reports, and process improvements continually

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Professional certifications in QA or automation tools (highly desirable)
  • Relevant training or certifications in scripting, automation frameworks, or Pega (additional advantage)
