Test Engineer

Carillon Technologies is pioneering breakthrough optical and RF communications technologies through its ReflecTek, OTenna and HOBS technologies. These technologies will enable affordable direct-to-device (e.g. phone, tablet) satellite communication, low-cost optical communication for homes and communities, and both space-to-space and space-to-ground optical communication.

We are seeking a Hardware Test Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be a technical individual contributor on projects developing and demonstrating communication systems and technologies on projects ranging from initial concept development through full systems demonstrations in relevant environments. They will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy the opportunity to continuously learn new skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Support development of Carillon’s optical antenna technology for communications and LIDAR applications.
  • Responsible for implementing test plans for RF and photonic technologies.
  • Conduct hardware testing, electronic or optical testing.
  • Work effectively with vendors and subcontractors to ensure sourcing of required components and subsystems.
  • Maintain appropriate document and version control procedures.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure effective utilization of company personnel, resources, and facilities.
  • Support various aspects of technical project planning, including designs, proposals, cost estimates, schedules and technical interface meetings throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Ensure traceability between customer requirements and system requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Eligibility for DOD SECRET Clearance.
  • Experience with photonic testing and characterization.
  • Knowledge of beam steering architectures for commercial and military applications.
  • Experience aligning free space optical components.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic modeling software such as Ansys HFSS and/or Lumerical.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Experience with RF test equipment such as network analyzers, high frequency sources, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for test automation and data analysis.
  • Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, digital to analog converters, and data loggers.

Contractual Requirements

  • Ability to handle data in compliance with U.S. export control laws.
  • Travel: Minimal (5%-15%)

Salary Range: $70,000 - $115,00 per year
