A food manufacturer in the Triad of North Carolina is seeking an experienced FSQA Manager to lead plant-level food safety and quality systems in a 24/7 operation.

This is a confidential search for a higher-level quality leader who can bring strong food industry experience, lead audits with confidence, maintain a high standard of audit-readiness, and serve as a visible member of the plant leadership team. The role reports to the Plant Director and is best suited for someone who is comfortable both on the production floor and in strategic, cross-functional leadership discussions.

What you will be responsible for

  • Lead plant food safety and quality programs across QA/QC operations
  • Own internal and external audit readiness and execution, including regulatory, customer, and certification audits
  • Manage and improve the Quality Management System
  • Drive GMP, hygiene, sanitation, and compliance standards throughout the plant
  • Review customer complaints, determine root cause, and implement corrective actions
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership to keep the plant audit-ready at all times
  • Support training, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Oversee lab-related quality activities and support product quality performance on the floor
  • Manage pest control and sanitation-related quality responsibilities
  • Participate in daily production meetings and contribute as part of the plant leadership team

Team and environment

  • Reports directly to the Plant Director
  • Current direct team includes 5-7 reports
  • Responsible for sanitation and housekeeping
  • Plant operates 24/7, so this role requires some flexibility beyond a standard Monday-Friday schedule
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required per the existing role framework

What they are looking for

  • Food manufacturing background is required
  • Strong audit leadership experience is essential
  • Experience with FSMA/FDA requirements and GFSI-style certification environments
  • Comfortable enforcing GMPs and leading plant-wide quality and hygiene expectations
  • Able to work effectively with both hourly teams and plant leadership
  • Strong floor presence, attention to detail, and continuous improvement mindset
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, food technology, chemistry, biology, or a related field required; advanced degree is a plus
  • Spanish is helpful but not required

Compensation

  • Base salary of $140,000-$150,000
  • 15% annual bonus based on company performance
  • Additional flexibility may exist for an exceptional candidate with strong food industry experience
