Test Lead

SG2 Recruiting seeks a Cleared Integration and Test Lead to support a Naval Center for Space Technology (NCST) contract. The NCST is located at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC, and is the leading laboratory for Navy space programs. NCST’s mission is to β€œpreserve and enhance a strong space technology base and provide expert capabilities in the development and acquisition of space systems which support Naval missions.

Β

”For the last 25 years, the NCST has developed, enhanced, and maintained a collection of software used for design, development, test, launch, and mission operations of DoD space assets. This software is continually enhanced to deliver state-of-the-art solutions for space applications. The core suite of software components is utilized in all aspects of the spacecraft or component life cycle.

What You Will Be Doing:

Β

  • Developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements
  • Providing specific input to the software components of a system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of COTS/GOTS in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components
  • Designing, implementing, and integrating software applications or performing software engineering tasks
  • Utilizing software engineering and design methodologies appropriate to the development, integration, and production environments
  • Ensuring efficient delivery of software engineering capabilities using industry standards and repeatable processes
  • Mitigating risks, controlling costs and schedule variance, and effectively managing large-scale, integrated software projects
  • Reviewing and testing software components for adherence to the design requirements and documenting test results
  • Providing electrical engineering expertise to analyze complex electrical systems, electrical design, architecture, procurement, testing, and other electrical issues
  • Integrating electrical components into complex hardware and software designs
  • Organizing and directing electrical installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities
  • Preparing reports and recommendations concerning existing and emerging electrical technologies based on users’ requirements
  • Designing, developing, testing, and deploying embedded GSE software
  • Modifying, enhancing, and creating device-specific interfaces for real-time data collection and GSE control by understanding the internals of the real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Configuring the RTOS-based GSE, the C2 software-based test system, the application-specific interfaces, and the spacecraft hardware unit under test for performance, environmental, and acceptance testing
  • Designing, developing, and configuring the management of automated procedures that are used during integration and testing to use proven and tested sequences during launch and mission operations
  • Modifying the software source code and automated procedures to replace the GSE interfaces and simulation practices with real-time operational data to create operational procedures

Β

What You Will Need (Requirements):

  • Active Secret clearance
  • Minimum B.Sc., Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Mathematics
  • Extensive experience with spacecraft operations and testing
  • Extensive experience in directing teams of software engineers in the design and development of integration and test systems and procedures
  • Ability to commute daily to the Naval Research Lab location in Washington, DC
