Lead and participate in financial statement audits and Single Audits for Public Housing Authorities (PHAs).
Prepare and review fee accounting reports, including operating subsidy calculations, FDS submissions, and related HUD compliance filings.
Analyze and interpret HUD regulations and guidance, ensuring client compliance.
Assist with the preparation of year-end financials, budgets, and other required reports.
Communicate audit findings and accounting issues with clients, offering recommendations for process improvements.
Collaborate with team members to deliver timely and accurate services to clients.
Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in the public housing sector.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelorβs degree in Accounting (CPA preferred).
Minimum 5 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on PHAβs.
Demonstrated experience in audits and fee accounting for PHAs.
Strong knowledge of HUD regulations, accounting standards, and reporting requirements.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Computer Skills for Public Housing Authority Audit & Fee Accountant:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), especially advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis tools).
Experience with accounting software commonly used by Public Housing Authorities (such as QuickBooks, PHA-Web, Yardi, Emphasys, or similar platforms).
Ability to learn and effectively use specialized HUD reporting systems (e.g., FASS-PH, REAC, eLOCCS).
Strong general computer literacy and comfort with cloud-based collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Zoom).
Attention to data security and confidentiality in all electronic communications and document management.
