QA Automation Engineer

Introduction

We are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions for critical banking and payments systems. The ideal candidate has a solid background in test automation frameworks, BDD practices, and experience working within financial services environments.

Contract until December 2026

1-2 days in office based in Sandton

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks usingΒ Selenium WebDriverΒ andΒ Cucumber (BDD)
  • Write and maintainΒ feature files, step definitions, and reusable automation components
  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and business analysts to refine acceptance criteria
  • Execute automated regression, integration, and functional test suites
  • Perform API testing (e.g., REST services) and integrate into automation pipelines
  • Identify, log, and track defects using test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira)
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) to enable continuous testing
  • Ensure test coverage acrossΒ payments workflows, transaction processing, and integrations
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies and Agile processes
  • Mentor junior QA engineers where required

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • 3–6 years of experience in QA, with at least 2–3 years in automation
  • Strong experience with:
    • Selenium WebDriver (Java preferred)
    • Cucumber / BDD frameworks
    • TestNG / JUnit
  • Experience withΒ API testingΒ (Postman, RestAssured, or similar)
  • Familiarity withΒ CI/CD toolsΒ (Jenkins, Git, Maven/Gradle)
  • Good understanding ofΒ test design techniques and QA methodologies
  • Experience working inΒ Agile/Scrum environments
  • Solid debugging and analytical skills
  • Experience inΒ banking or financial services systems
  • Exposure toΒ payments platforms:
    • Card payments (Visa/Mastercard flows)
    • EFT / ACH / RTGS
    • Payment gateways and transaction switching
  • Understanding ofΒ security and complianceΒ (e.g., PCI-DSS)

Package & Remuneration

R500 per hour
