Join our product development team and help build the future of underground mine management solutions! Weโre looking for a senior-level QA professional with a strong technical background and an inquisitive, proactive mindset who can help us create a culture of quality and take ownership of and improve how we do test of our software and hardware solutions.ย Most of the testing activities will revolve around software, but you will also be involved with end-to-end integration testing with physical hardware equipment in our test lab.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:ย
- Become an expert on MSTโs hardware products, MST software platform, and the business domain of underground miningย
- Develop test plans and build test cases for features, releases and regression test cyclesย
- Execute manual test cases for bugfixes, features, and regression testsย
- Plan and execute integration tests that bring together constellations of custom hardware devices, on-board vehicle touchscreen devices, and web/desktop software applicationsย
- Plan and perform exploratory testing, usability testing, and performance testing, and make recommendations for product improvementsย
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot issuesย
- Take part in design reviews, with a mindset of encouraging โdesign for testabilityโ at the earliest stagesย
- Take part in planning and estimation, both for Scrum sprints, and for larger projects and releasesย
- Track and report on quality metricsย
- Suggest and drive improvements to our QA, development, and delivery processesย
- Although our testing activities are largely manual at present, we are working on initiatives to continually improve our QA process maturity and in the future, it is anticipated that youโll take part in evaluating new automated testing tools or frameworks, and help plan and develop new suites of automated testsย
- Help create a culture of quality and doing the job rightย
- Help us maintain our positive and fun team atmosphere and good working relationshipsย

Business travel is not planned to be a major part of this role, but there could potentially be occasional opportunities to travel to customer sites or other MST offices, or to attend industry conventions and tradeshows.
Our ideal candidate would have these qualifications and soft skills:ย
- Previous experience in firmware and software QA, with preferably a minimum of 5 years in QA or related technical roles
- A degree or diploma in a relevant technical field is preferred, but weโll consider equivalent skills, knowledge, and experience
- Experience testing complex systems of software and hardware devices is desirableย
- Strong working knowledge of Linux and the Linux command lineย
- Strong experience in manual and automated testing and familiarity with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress).ย
- Proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes debugging and logs.ย
- Experience with API testing tools (Postman, REST-assured, or similar).ย
- Experience with IoT communication protocols like MQTT and testing of edge computing devices with low power wireless technologies e.g. LoRa and LTE-Mย
- Understanding of industrial network protocols (e.g. CAN, Modbus, SPI, USB, UART, Ethernet)ย
- Any experience with databases and SQL is a plusย
- Any experience with VoIP telephony systems is a plusย
- A strong ability to communicate and explain things clearly, both verbally and in writingย
- An eagerness to learn, and an ability to learn quicklyย
- A willingness to ask questions, ask for help, and question our assumptionsย
- A good sense of quality, which includes not just technical correctness but also always thinking about the needs and expectations of the customer and end users in the fieldย
- Any knowledge or experience of the mining industry or a similar industry involving heavy equipment, industrial processes, or fleet management is a plusย
- Any experience with process improvement or Quality Management Systems is a plusย
