We are looking for a thoughtful QA Engineer to lead and execute advanced test automation initiatives across Schwab’s complex enterprise Billing platform.Β  This role requires deep technical expertise in Java, REST API testing, and Open source Test Automation tools such as Selenium, Karate combined with a proven ability to design, implement, and execute robust E2E test cases. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and QA teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Our Billing Solutions Technology team oversees a best-in-class suite of applications comprised of SaaS and in-house developed applications supporting the diverse billing needs of the Schwab products and services provided to our clients.Β  Our technology consists of internal user interfaces, system integrations, data aggregation, complex fee calculation logic, and reporting capabilities that process Billions of dollars in revenue for Schwab. You’ll be responsible for delivering high quality solutions that support Managed Investing product launches in a flexible, collaborative and rapidly changing delivery environment.   • Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Java and Selenium for web applications and REST APIs.
  • Lead E2E test planning, execution, and reporting for high-impact projects, ensuring comprehensive coverage of business-critical workflows.
  • Develop and execute automated test scripts for RESTful services, validating API functionality, performance, and security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define quality standards, acceptance criteria, and test strategies.
  • Analyze test results, identify root causes of defects, and drive continuous improvement in test processes and coverage.
  • Mentor junior SDETs and QA engineers, sharing best practices in automation and E2E testing.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring rapid feedback and release confidence.
  • Manage test environments and data, ensuring readiness for E2E and regression testing.
  • Stay current with industry trends in test automation, tools, and methodologies.

What you have

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, related degree, OR related practical experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance Engineering

  • 3+ years developing, executing, and maintaining automation framework for webservices and DB Testing

  • Hands-on coding experience with Java, C# or other object-oriented programming languages

  • Hands-on experience with Open Source Test Automation tools such as Karate, SOATest, Selenium etc.,

  • Experience with GitHUB, Bitbucket, Splunk, Postman, Mabl tools

  • Deep understanding of exploratory testing practices

  • Working knowledge of industry-standard tools for logging bugs and managing test cases (e.g., JIRA/MTM, Zephyr/HPQ)

  • Proven ability to successfully balance and deliver multiple geographically distributed QA projects with concurrent releases

  • Hands-on experience with Web services virtualization and Test Data Management

  • Comfortable representing QA in product code reviews

  • Ability to scope, size, and oversee risk-assessments across complex projects and schedules

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Agile methodology and development practices, and experience working in an Agile environment.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the demonstrable ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

  • Collaborative mindset coupled with a bias for action to effectively engage with all areas of the business including Product Management,

  • Architects, SRE, and adjacent teams, etc.

  • Ability to effectively engage subject matter experts and understand technical topics.

  • Demonstrated ability to discuss conflicting viewpoints, argue your case with data, and commit to delivery regardless of the selected direction.

  • Track record of mentoring and coaching junior team members to strengthen the organization.

  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, professionalism and strong work ethic with high level of integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Environment Observability and Triaging
  • Hands‑on with modern automation stacks (e.g., Java/C#, WebdriverIO, REST/GraphQL testing, service virtualization) and cloud‑based execution.
  • Familiarity with program‑level planning artifacts (testing matrices, E2E QA procedures, communication channels) and metrics storytelling to leadership.
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool stack (JIRA and Confluence)
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), AWS, or GCP.
  • Prior experience in IT Transformations and system modernization initiatives from legacy to distributed platforms, i.e., Mainframe Cobol apps/DB2 to Java apps/SQL
  • Proficient in developing Visio diagrams, architectural and design documentations, functional and technical specifications, automated test processes.
  • Financial/Trading services industry experience is a plus
