AttainX Inc. is seeking an experienced Manual Software/QA Tester to join our federal IT delivery team. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in writing and executing detailed test plans and test cases, identifying and documenting software defects, and leading test efforts within Agile delivery environments. You will serve as a subject matter expert and quality advocate across complex enterprise and government platforms, collaborating closely with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders to ensure high-quality, compliant software delivery.
Essential Required Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of IT experience with 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance with a focus on manual testing
- Proficiency writing and executing test plans and test cases across functional, regression, integration, and system testing types
- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as JIRA, ALM, Rational Quality Manager, Bugzilla, or equivalent
- Solid SQL skills for backend data validation and query writing
- Familiarity with REST API testing and validation concepts
- Experience working on Agile orΒ SAFeΒ delivery teams, including sprint planning, estimation, and demo activities
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior QA team members
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to document and present QA findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Razor-sharp attention to detail and strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to obtain USDA Public Trust Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting USDA, FPAC, NRCS, or other federal civilian agencies.
- Proficiency with Linux/UNIX environments and command-line scripting (bash, Korn Shell, Python, or Perl)
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, VCenter)
- Familiarity with UI automation tools such as Selenium, Gauge, or Robot Framework/RoboGalaxy
- Background in hardware testing including servers, storage arrays, networking equipment, and fiber channel environments
- Experience with performance/load testing (QA Load, JMeter, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of networking concepts including VLAN, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP for system-level testing
- Certified Software Test Professional (CSTP) or equivalent industry certification
Core Responsibilities:
- Write, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for functional, integration, regression, smoke, system, and end-to-end testing
- Identify, document, and report software defects clearly and concisely using tools such as JIRA, Bugzilla, ALM, or Rational Quality Manager
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned applications; conduct knowledge transfer sessions with developers, testers, and product owners
- Perform end-to-end testing to validate interactions between various components and subsystems
- Write complex SQL queries to validate data integrity and verify values presented in application interfaces
- Perform product verification during and after deployments to production environments
- Direct and mentor less experienced team members; estimate test effort and track progress within Agile sprint cycles
- Demonstrate application functionality to customers and stakeholders for product acceptance
- Configure and test across multiple operating systems including Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora), Windows, and UNIX/HP-UX environments where applicable
- Support API testing and validation using tools such asΒ ReadyAPIΒ or REST-based methods
- Contribute to UI and API automation scripting efforts as needed (Selenium, Gauge, Java)
- Establish and enforce sound QA policies, procedures, and industry-standard testing practices across the team
