TMX Markets consist of the Derivatives and Equities Trading businesses of the TMX Group.The TMX Markets Insights squad is a collaborative team with a mandate to unlock the power of data generated by our exchange assets to empower internal Sales, Product, and Operations teams across TMX Group's trading venues. The team provides automation, reporting and Business Intelligence for our stakeholders.

Sitting uniquely at the intersection of business and technology, we work directly with stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver data-driven solutions that drive efficiency, automation, business intelligence, and informed decision-making. We operate on a modern cloud-native technology stack, backed by a sophisticated and experienced technology organization encompassing Cloud, Data, and DevOps expertise.

As a Software QA Analyst/Developer within the TMX Markets Insights Squad, you will take ownership of the testing and validation functions for the team. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of our scripts/applications by testing new features, preventing regression, and validating that all changes meet requirements defined in the story.Β 

Beyond the day-to-day, you'll have the unique opportunity to leverage your analytical skills and technical curiosity to shape our testing practices, identify key areas for automation, and become the software testing subject matter expert for our team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful projects, work with cutting-edge technologies, and collaborate closely with a variety of stakeholders across our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Story Completion Validation: Collaborate with the product owner and developers to fully understand user story acceptance criteria and confirm that all changes meet the expected outcomes.

  • Testing Strategy and Best Practices: Define and implement our overall testing methodology and quality assurance standards.

  • Defect Management: Identify, document, and track software bugs and defects, working closely with the development team to ensure timely resolution.

  • Mentorship and Guidance: Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and mentorship to other team members on testing best practices and test automation.

  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in the testing domain to identify opportunities for improvement.

Must haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

  • 4+ years of experience in a Software Development or QA role

  • Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes

  • Experience with test automation design and scripting skills

  • Experience with Tools such as JIRA, TestRail

  • Hands-on experience working with cloud technology stacks (preferably AWS), containerization technologies (Kubernetes), and big data tooling (such as EMR, Presto, Snowflake).

  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) with strong interpersonal, analytical, and research abilities.

  • Proactive, adaptable, and capable of working effectively both independently and as a collaborative member of a team.

Nice to haves:

  • Prior experience testing/working with Data pipelines, data integrity and BI reports

  • Prior experience in Capital Markets and/or Financial Services

  • Experience working within an Agile development environment.

Note:

  • This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days per week in our downtown Toronto office.
