Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior SDET to lead the design and development of robust, scalable, and maintainable test automation frameworks. This role is ideal for someone passionate about quality engineering, automation architecture, and continuous integration, with a strong background in building automation tools. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, QA analysts, and DevOps teams to ensure high-quality software delivery across our platforms.

This role is on-site in our Newport Beach office.

Please note: this role is a contract to hire position.

How you’ll help move us forward:

  • Design, develop and maintain custom test automation frameworks for UI, API, Mobile, Mainframe, ETL and Data pipelines.
  • Evaluate and integrate open-source and commercial tools to enhance automation capabilities.
  • Develop reusable components, libraries, and utilities to support test automation.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure testability and automation-first mindset in application design.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, QA analysts, and DevOps teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Mentor junior SDETs and Divisional QA engineers on automation best practices and framework usage.
  • Ensure automation frameworks are extensible, reusable, and support multiple platforms and environments.
  • Drive improvements in test coverage, reliability, and execution speed.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to quality standards across engineering teams.
  • Develop utilities and tools to support synthetic test data generation, mocking and environment setup.



The experience you bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing and automation.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining automation frameworks from scratch.
  • Deep understanding of testing methodologies, including unit, integration, system and acceptance testing.
  • Experience with tools like Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, RestAssured, JUnit/TestNG, Postman, etc.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Knowledge of security testing and accessibility testing.
  • Experience with AI/ML-based testing tools and self-healing automation frameworks.
  • Experience with BDD/TDD practices.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$134,280.00 - $164,120.00
